Three Rye Middle School boys — Marc Hartnett and Peter and Billy Chabot — were among the 160 skiers who competed in slalom and giant slalom events at the U14 Alpine Eastern Regional Championships at Sunday River, Maine, in March.

After racing at Windham Mountain in New York for six years, Marc, an eighth grader, spent his first winter at the Killington Mountain School and represented Vermont at the Championships. He is back at Rye Middle School.

Billy and Peter Chabot, both seventh graders, race at Windham and represented New York.

All three boys skied very well, and Marc went on to qualify for the next and last level of competition at the U14 level. He was one of 30 boys representing the United States at the Can-Am Championships, held at Mont-Tremblant in Quebec over Easter weekend.
