Patricia Egan

Patricia A. Egan of Rye, formerly of Crestwood, and more recently a resident of the Willow Towers in New Rochelle, passed away on February 14, 2017 at the age of 91.

Hers was a life well lived and her legacy will be that of a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her family was her greatest joy and she was happiest when she was with them.

At her funeral, one of her grandchildren remarked, “My grandmother was the happiest person I’ve ever met.” Everyone in Pat Egan’s large family agreed with that description.

Born July 23, 1925 to Daniel and Sally “Nannyo” (Regan) Cowan in New York City, she grew up in Bryn Mawr Park, Yonkers. She graduated from Cathedral High School and The College of Mount Saint Vincent.

In 1950 she married John Egan, who remained the love of her life for 61 wonderful years.

Pat worked at Young & Rubicam and at Sarah Lawrence College as assistant to the Director of the Early Childhood Center.

She was a faithful parishioner of Resurrection Church in Rye and prior to that, Annunciation Church in Crestwood. She was a longtime member of Coveleigh Club, where she and her husband thoroughly enjoyed the time they spent with their many friends.

An active volunteer, Mrs. Egan served as a board member of the Westchester Catholic Education Council, the Annunciation Guild, the Ladies of Charity, and the Alumni Board of the College of Mount Saint Vincent.

For the past six years, she lived at Willow Towers, where she embraced her new friends and caring staff.

Mrs. Egan is survived by her three children: Betty Ann and her husband Robert Lecky, Jack and his wife Lorrie, and Jim and his wife Marianne; 11 grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

A funeral Mass was held at Church of the Resurrection on February 20.

Donations in her memory can be made to Cristo Rey New York High School – Corporate Work Study Program – a co-ed high school for underprivileged students (www.cristoreyny.org).
