When we heard from Jay Mahoney that he was “back East and photographing a lot,” we started checking our e-mail. The former Rye resident, who spends most of the year in Colorado, loves the outdoors and all creatures, great and small. We’ve been fortunate in keeping track of his photographic adventures from Africa to New Mexico to the Florida Everglades.
Mahoney was excited to send us photographs he took last week of the Osprey nest at Edith Read Sanctuary “that has everyone’s attention.” He captured it nesting, aloft, and in search of prey.
At Audubon Greenwich, Mahoney snapped less threatening birds, from woodpeckers to gnatcatchers.
We’re glad to have him back in our neck of the woods.
