Trespass Suspect in Rye Had Keys to Stolen Vehicle
On the night of September 22, just after 9:30, City of Rye Police responded to a report of a trespass in progress on Martin Butler Court. Officers observed a man walking down a driveway on Phillips Lane. After speaking with the man, Jose J. Santos-Pena of Yonkers, officers discovered he was in possession of keys to a Honda Accord parked on Forest Avenue that had been reported stolen out of Otis, Massachusetts. Another Rye resident stated she had seen Santos-Pena earlier in the day on her property.
Santos-Pena, 23, was arrested on two counts of Criminal Trespass in the Third Degree, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Third Degree, Obstruction of Governmental Administration in the Second Degree, and transported to Rye Headquarters for processing.
He was arraigned in Rye City Court the next morning and released on his own recognizance with a return court date of September 27.
