Police Blotter 8/15: Coyote’s have invaded Rye

8/5 Smooth Operator. Suspicious vehicle, Forest Avenue/Playland Parkway, 3:29 a.m. Vehicle parked with lights on in empty Playland Market lot; operator was resting.

8/5 ATM larcenies reported across Westchester County, area of Playland Market appeared normal, 2:07 a.m.

8/4 Born to Run. Party observed coyote running through her Grace Church Street backyard, 6:01 p.m.

8/4 Ode to Joy. Caller stated leaf blowers were being used on Hidden Spring Lane in violation of City ordinance, 11:03 a.m. Summons issued.

8/4 Aggressive coyote twice ran at complainant and his dog, Forest Avenue/Hook Road, 7:30 a.m.

8/3 Stop and Think it Over. Greenwich PD requested assistance investigating hit-and-run in their jurisdiction in which property damage resulted. Stopped vehicle at Milton Road/Oakland Beach Avenue, 11 p.m., advised operator to contact Greenwich PD. He stated he had hit another vehicle.

8/3 Graham Court caller stated he observed male, approximately 40 years old, wearing flannel shirt, jeans, with shoulder length hair, wearing backpack checking car door handles. Party may have gone east or west on Locust Avenue. Canvassed area multiple times with negative results.

8/3 Caller stated her 2-year-old was locked in vehicle, Wappanocca Avenue, 5:41 p.m. RFD unlocked vehicle, all was in order.

8/3 Grace Church Street caller reported coyote in her driveway, 5:12 p.m.

8/3 Dump and dumber. DPW worker stated black Tahoe with Georgia plates was parked illegally, blocking dumpster, School/Smith streets. Several summonses issued.

8/3 Morning Do. Grace Church Street complainant stated unknown male wearing black hoodie was on his property threatening him, 2:56 a.m.

8/3 All I Have to Do Is Dream. Caller stated truck parked at Rye Colony had been running for over five hours, 12:42 a.m. Resident fell asleep in vehicle; went into his apartment.

8/2 Grease (is the Word). Open door at former Peachwave, now Greeks from Greece. Two doors secured, one unable to secure, 10:11 p.m. No key holder information on file.

8/2 Party found sleeping in vehicle in front of Corner Stone, 8:44 p.m. Unable to move vehicle. Assisted citizen in obtaining Uber.

8/2 Rye Y employee reported laptop, cell phone missing from their summer camp office at Resurrection Middle School.

8/2 Not that open. Shop owner stated small display table was stolen from in front of Open House business overnight.

8/1 Coyote sighted walking along Milton Road, 11:46 a.m.

8/1 Honk-y Tonk Woman. Goose reported in roadway, Playland Access/Parkway, 9:43 a.m.

8/1 “Little bit lower now…” Loud party reported along Green Avenue, 12:54 a.m. Advised resident to shut off music, keep noise down.

7/31 Born to Be Wild. Caller reported youths throwing things by Milton School library and being unruly, 9:38 p.m. Kids kicked out.

7/31 Skateaway. Caller reported kids making noise in Rye Rec Skate Park, 9:22 p.m. GOA.

7/31 Rye Beach Avenue resident stated traffic had become two eastbound lanes toward Forest Avenue; she could not get out of her driveway.

7/31 Multiple callers reported backed-up traffic from Playland. Playland “specials”, County PD were attempting to resolve conditions.

7/31 Male passengers in black Acura reported looking in Park Avenue backyards. Canvassed for vehicle. GOA.

7/31 Multiple callers regarding heavy traffic, speeding, Forest/Redfield avenues, 1:17 p.m.

7/30 Third party reported having seen young couple having verbal altercation in area of Theodore Fremd/Central avenues, 3 p.m.

7/29 Walk-in wished to document harassment.

7/29 “I hear you knocking, but …” Caller reported two male solicitors in their ’30s, one with clipboard, one with backpack, knocked on her door. She stated she was on the no-knock list. Parties with valid permits were identified and were on their way, advised not to solicit at no-solicit houses.
