The Wildcats Cross-Country team is feeling the sting of graduating some of their top runners, but Coach Ethan White says his “excellent captains have already helped to foster a team dynamic of spirit and support.” Seniors JJ Shulman and Jackson Adler are co-captains of the Boys’ team, which is 23-strong, and Alex Zuber and Amanda Cutler are leading the Girls’ team of seven sprinters.

The runners to watch, in addition to the captains, are senior Ben Arquit, and juniors Hunter Chun, Henry Cho, Elena Kim, and Sarah Vumbacco.

While the team may be lacking in depth, the Wildcats have some promising younger runners. “As a young team, we have a lot of work to do to build a solid core of Varsity runners who are able to compete at the highest level,” said Coach White. He and the captains are looking forward to seeing how the new runners will respond to the rigors of the workouts and races. They think there is a lot of promise there, but it remains to be seen where they will stack up against the rest of the league.

They will have their first opportunity to see how they measure up in league competition September 17 at the Sherwood Island Meet.
