In recognition of Veteran’s Day and the World War I Centennial, School of the Holy Child Middle School hosted a Remembrance Day to honor those who so valiantly served our country. French and History teachers joined with eighth-grade students to provide the historical context of the Centennial and share first-hand stories of relatives who served in the war. Poppies were distributed to all in attendance and the poem “In Flanders Fields” was recited.

Special guest Richard J. Kelly, the father of History Department Chair Fiona Kelly, shared the remarkable story of his father’s experience as a signal operator in the 78th Lighting Division.

School of the Holy Child saluted all of those currently serving, as well as veterans of past wars. “We thank you for our freedom and honor you for your service.”
