After their 257-259 win over Edgemont at home April 24, the Garnets had a sterling 5-0 record. Coach Rich Savage said the girls played extremely well on a difficult course and in windy conditions. Senior captain Alexis Hios shot a 40, the best score of the day. Junior Frida Henningsson shot 47, Cristiana Villani followed with a 53, Alex Ostan shot a 56, and Erin O’Brien 61. Edgemont’s lowest score was 47.

Hios said, “The conditions made the course play with a two-club (20 to 30 mph) wind, but that’s nothing new for the Northeast!” A senior in her fifth and final year on the team, Hios said one of the best parts of the season is that she is playing with her younger sister Sara for the first time.

On April 28, Rye faced a bigger challenge than high winds — they came up against their nemesis, Ursuline, who was also undefeated, 288-251.

The Garnets next matchup is May 1, against Byram Hills, post-presstime.
