The girls’ team is stronger than the boys’, but they both boast great talent. On the girls’ team,
Momoko Yoshida is the star long jumper, and fellow senior Charlotte Kirby excels at the high jump. The other girls to watch are Maggie McDermott in all the running events, Matea Freidel in pole vault, Liz Gage in the triple jump, and Aurora Zahm in pole vault and the high and triple jumps.
The standout boys are four-year sprinter Jerome Theunissen, and juniors Ryan Bird and Finn Mundinger and sophomore Jack Ryan in the distance runs.
Coach Yedowitz encourages all the athletes to run as well as participate in the field events.
So far this season Friedel vaulted a school record 9’6’’; McDermott ran 1000 meters in a speedy 3:12.2; and Ryan set a 10th grade recoed in the 1000 meter run.
