RPD’s Hinrichs Certified as Drug Expert
Rye Police Officer Lansing Hinrichs has joined Officer Jon Klein to become Rye’s second certified Drug Recognition Expert (DRE). After receiving extensive training, Hinrichs graduated Last month with 15 other law enforcement officers from across New York State.
DRE officers are trained to observe the signs of drug and/or alcohol impairment, and are skilled in detecting persons under the influence of drugs and in identifying the category of drugs causing the impairment.
Commissioner of Public Safety Michael Corcoran commended Hinrichs, “Lance is an extremely intelligent, active, and committed police officer. This designation is a testament to his unwavering professionalism.” Hinrichs is one of only nine DRE officers throughout Westchester County.
