The 82nd Rye High School Graduation Ceremony was filled with oration, music, and reflection. Two hundred and nineteen seniors crossed the bridge — literally and figuratively — the morning of June 15, and a glorious day it was. With just the right amount of pomp and circumstance, the RHS Band accompanied them at the Processional and Recessional.

In between, Principal Patricia Taylor welcomed and had high praise for the Class of 2013. Superintendent Dr. Frank Alvarez then delivered fine words of encouragement.
Latin students delighted the crowd with their oration. Bradley Krapes (piano and vocal), and Kathleen Nicholas (vocal) performed the first of two memorable musical interludes, “Bridge Over Troubled Water.” Miles Clyatt (drums), Henry Pearson (guitar), Phil Pignato (alto sax), Charles Rimmer (bass), and James Tobin (guitar and piano) performed a version of “Layla” that we hope they sent to Eric Clapton.

School Board President Laura Slack presented diplomas and heartfelt wishes to the Class, which included her son, Kevin.
