Carpet Trends is the Sidewalk Sale for many. Residents near and far arrive early for a first look under the tent next to the longtime Smith Street business. If you need a carpet — anything from a Wilton, Stark, or Schumacher to an indoor/outdoor area rug that can handle heavy kids and pets traffic — be there. It’s cash and carry. “We’ve already received lots of calls from customers wanting an early peek,” said Margaret Ricketts, Vice President.

 

Woodrow Jewelers will be offering some of the best deals in town for the Sidewalk Sale. Rob Woodrow said that they’ll be discontinuing a few lines — Leslie Greene, Mont Blanc, Swatch — and will be selling items from those lines at half-price. (Get there early!)

 

Rhythm in Rye owner Renee Drummond plans to transform the consignment shop for the occasion. And she can do it! Everything in the store will be 30 to 50% off, from Louis Vuitton bags to everyday accessories.

Dina Grossman, who helps manage Great Stuff, said some products are brought in especially for the sidewalk sale — including lines by some of their best designers — including Majestic and Helene Berman. Great Stuff is always busy during the sale, said Grossman, since, “We have the best front footage of all of Rye.”

 

For antiques of all ages and price points, Twig Antiques, is the place to be, especially during the Sidewalk Sale. Many of the items in their inventory will be greatly reduced. Don’t miss the cash-and-carry treasures table, where most items are $10 and less.

 

Among Twig Antique President Nicole Steinthal’s favorite things currently in the shop are unique vintage barware, fine dining room tables and front hall benches, fabulous silver and silver plate hostess gifts, and fantastic china sets.

Gallery 52 owner Beverly Sansone said she always looks forward to the Sidewalk Sale. Part of the excitement for her is the opportunity to bring attention to the work of local artists she represents, including Heather Patterson, Adrienne Mierzwa, photographer Heidi Silverstein, and portrait artist Ed Salazar.

 

“In addition to original art and prints, we carry unique and unusual gift items, but most of our business is museum-quality custom framing,’’ Sansone said. “For the sale, we will be offering photo frames, curios, prints, one-of-a-kind items, and holiday decorations for Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas — all at steep discounts.”

 

Beverly’s sister, Joan Sansone, who owns the eponymous contemporary and estate jewelry store across the street, closes her store during the sale in order to help out at Gallery 52.

Denis Mathews anticipates a rush of customers at Rush, so he’s offering discounts of as much as 50% off one-of-a-kind jewelry. “Unlike every other jewelry store, we wholesale,” he said. “We’re in a position to give people extremely good value.”

 

Eight unique sterling silver necklaces with very large stones will be priced at discounts at up to 20%. Some of the best deals can be found on fashion bracelets including bangles and leather-wrap bracelets.

 

Gold vermeil necklaces, earrings, and bracelets — normally priced from $200-$400 — will sell for half price. Freshwater pearls and baroque pearls that now sell for $1,280 to $1,500 will go for as little as $850 during the sale.
