…The Rye Recreation Girls’ 5th and 6th Grade All Star team, which won the Westchester County Girls’ Championship. With great teamwork, sharp shooting, and tenacious defense, the girls held off a late-scoring charge from Shrub Oak to win, 26-17. It was the first time in over 15 years that Rye Recreation was in the championship game, and the first time in 20 years that the team brought home the championship trophy.

Congratulations to fifth graders Mara Ball and Ava Greto and sixth graders Leah Atkins, Teaghan Flaherty, Leah Kenny, Audrey Labovitz, and Ella Rivera, and their coaches, Kelsey Hanley and Ryan Tracy for a terrific season and win at the County Center March 17.  They were honored by the Rye City Council April 9.
