If you spot high school students selling baked goods on Saturday, it’s for a great cause. The Children’s Hope Chest recruited Rye-area youngsters to get involved in its first “Recipe for Hope” fundraiser. Mark Canno, who coaches golf and tennis at Rye Neck High School, said he expects as many as 50 booths will be set up locally to sell cookies, brownies, and cupcakes.

 

All proceeds will go to The Children’s Hope Chest and used to support its mission of providing help and offering hope to children in our community suffering from poverty, abuse, neglect and illness, according to Wendy Kleinman, who is organizing the event. The Carver Center in Port Chester is among the agencies to receive money from the sale.

 

The Children’s Hope Chest is hosting a pizza party, complete with games and a DJ, from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday at the Purchase Community Center.

 

Sponsors include Cerbones Rye Ridge Pastry Shop in Rye Brook, Nonna’s Pizza in White Plains, and Silver Lake Pizzeria in West Harrison.
