If you were one of those people looking unsuccessfully for a legal parking spot in Rye yesterday, blame it on Kevin Bacon. It wasn’t exactly his fault. He’s starring in a forthcoming FOX TV series, “The Following”, and he literally had a following in Rye — countless trucks and pieces of equipment parked in downtown lots and crew everywhere with walkie-talkies in one-hand and a cup of Joe in the other.
It was a true scene, just not a good day to try and find a parking space. The action moved to Harrison today. Our advice is: don’t go there.
“The Following” is an FBI drama. Annie Parisse, of “Law & Order” fame, co-stars as Bacon’s partner. The show is set in Richmond. One of the shops used in the filming was our own Smoke Shop, but the “Rye” in the sign was covered over for the shot.
Meanwhile, Rye needed a little more “law & order” in downtown, as drivers fed up with slow-moving traffic made illegal U-turns on Purchase and parked where they pleased.
