Tim Clark and Augustina Santucci were honored for their outstanding contributions to the community at the Rye Y’s annual dinner May 17 at Apawamis Club.

The Gold Spirit Award, presented to Clark by trustee Tom Murphy, is the Rye Y’s highest honor for volunteer service. Clark was honored for exemplifying the generosity and spirit of volunteerism with his outstanding service on the Rye YMCA board from 2005 to 2011, including two years as board president.

Santucci received the Community Service Award for her dedicated contributions to the Carver Center in Port Chester and involvement as a board member of P.O.T.S., an agency in the Bronx that helps individuals transition from crisis to self-sufficiency.

Executive Director Gregg Howells presented the Woof Haneman Scholarship Award to Kevin Heyel, a senior at Rye High School, in recognition of his community service and involvement with the YMCA. The scholarship is awarded annually in memory of Woof Haneman, husband of Nancy Haneman, longtime Rye resident and Rye Y trustee.

The dinner was an opportunity to welcome new board members Kevin Kavanagh, Paulette Mann, Patty Mosher, Neal Sterns, and Liam Winters, as well as honor departing board members Pat Jakobson, Kim Larsen, Judy Myers, Tim O’Toole, and Kelley Worman.

The Rye Y’s commitment to strengthening community was highlighted throughout the evening. Last year, the Y granted a record $470,000 in financial aid to individuals and families in need. The Rye Y also introduced two important health initiatives to the community: LIVESTRONG at the YMCA, a free wellness program for cancer survivors and the YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program.
