RCSD Budget Passes; Slack, Pasquale, Repetto Win Board Seats

 

Voters approved the 2012-13 Rye City School District budget of $73.6 million in Tuesday’s election, by a vote of 1,221 to 421. In the race for three School Board seats, incumbent Laura Slack won a third three-year term with 1,261 votes, followed by Nancy Pasquale with 1,217, and Chris Repetto with 955.

Voters approved the 2012-13 Rye City School District budget of $73.6 million in the May 15 election, by a vote of 1,221 to 421. Turnout was light, with only 1,642 residents casting ballots.

 

In the race for three School Board seats, incumbent Laura Slack won a third three-year term with 1,261 votes, followed by Nancy Pasquale with 1,217, and Chris Repetto with 955. Patrick Cox, a first-time candidate, received 741 votes.

 

Pasquale and Repetto won seats being vacated by retiring School Board members Josh Nathan and Ray Schmitt. They’ll join the board of seven on July 1. 

 

A reorganization meeting to decide which board members will take over the president and vice-president positions will be held June 26.

 

In other action, at the Board of Education meeting Tuesday night, the School Board announced the appointment of Angela Giorgio-Garcia as principal of Osborn School. She will replace retiring Osborn principal Clarita Zeppie as of July 1.

 

In addition, the Board announced the awarding of tenure to nine faculty members of the middle and high schools.

 

A reception will be held in their honor June 12 at 3 p.m.
