The kids are off from school April 14 through 18, and Rye is ready for them all. There is something for boys and girls of all ages. They may enjoy indoor or outdoor activities, running or sitting, tossing a ball, or holding a paintbrush. Pre-registration is required for most activities.

 

Rye Arts Center

Drawing and Painting
Kids ages 7-9 can explore a variety of art mediums and different projects throughout the week from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. They’ll be trying out watercolor, pencil and mixed media with Nicole Zahour. Fee: $260, discount for members.

 

Half-Day for Half-Pints
Ages 4-5 will enjoy a full week of music, media, movement, and storytelling. Pack a morning snack and work on fun projects from 9-11 a.m. Fee: $175, discount for members.

 
Manga Club Cartooning
Learn the secrets to creating powerful manga illustrations in this brand new program with Daniel DeNapoli for kids ages 8 and up all week long from 12:30-2:30 p.m. A manga style comic strip will also be discussed. Bring a sketchpad. Fee: $170, discount for members.

 
LittleBits Creations
Welcome to 21st Century art! Using LittleBits technology, students ages 8-11 will create amazing works of art powered by science all week long from 12:30-2:30. Motors, lights, and more are safely used to give your child’s creations life, while teaching them the fundamentals of engineering. For more information, visit http://littlebits.com/. Drop-in Crafts
Drop by the Children’s Room and make a fun spring craft. The library has the materials and all kids ages 4 and up need to bring is their creativity on April 14 from 10 a.m.-12 p.m.

 

Egg Hunt
On April 15 from 1:30-3 p.m., ages 6 and up can join the librarians for a mystery egg hunt in the Children’s Room. Listen to the clues, then go for it. Fun surprises for all.

 

Drop-in Board Games
Ages 4 and up, are welcome to challenge their family and friends in a wide selection of classic board games such as free solitaire tournaments, as well as card games on April 16 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

 

Animal Embassy
Calling all kids ages 4 and up with their grown-ups. On April 17 at 2 p.m., Animal Embassy brings the scientific study of zoology to life with incredible Animal Ambassadors. Meet a giant tree frog, an Eclectus parrot, a green tree python, and a pink-toed tarantula.

 

Lunch and a Movie
On April 18 from 12 – 1:20 p.m., all are welcome to view the classic Disney movie, “The Jungle Book.” Bring a brown bag lunch and embark on a thrilling adventure with Mowgli as he journeys deep in to the jungle. Juice boxes and snacks provided.

Brick Kids
Kids in grades K-5 can pretend they live in a giant castle with bridges, towers and a moat on April 14 from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. An assortment of miniature figures from the Middle Ages will join them and perhaps they can build a friendly dragon or two.
Fee $30 for residents, $40 for non-residents.

 

Sports Camps
Children can experience 15 different sports from around the world with the US Sports Institute. The program, which promotes good sportsmanship and teamwork, runs from April 14-16. Half-day for grades K-2, $115 for residents, $140 for non-residents. Full day for grades 3-6, $135 for residents, $160 for non-residents.

 

Squirts Camp
The little ones won’t be left behind as kids ages 3-5 will be introduced to a variety of sports, soccer, t-ball, lacrosse, basketball, and hockey by the US Sports Institute. The program will be held April 14-16 from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Fee: $70 for residents, $95 for non-residents.

 

Jewelry/Beading Workshop
Attention boys and girls. Create three accessories from a colorful selection of beads, charms, pendants, crystals, sea glass, ceramics, and metals. Melanie Rose of Beadz will be the instructor on April 15 from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. Fee: $35 for residents, $45 for non-residents.

Spring Break Camp
Pre-school and elementary school students can take a nature break. Bring lunch and learn about Mother Nature and the habits of local wildlife as the days grow warmer. The program runs from April 14-18 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Fee: $60 for child members, $70 for child non-members.

 

Rye YMCA

Gymnastics Camp
Kids ages 5 and up can sign up for half or full days, April 14-18. They’ll hone their gymnastics skills with drills, tumbling, and open workouts plus one hour of free swim most days. Full day campers will participate in arts and crafts, games, and fitness. Please bring a snack and lunch for full day camp. Half day: Family: $55/day; Youth: $65/day; Non-member: $100/day. Soccer Camp
Kids ages 5-11 can sign up for half days or full days, April 14-18. There will be soccer instruction and games plus one hour of free swim in the pool most days. Instructors will cover all the fundamentals of soccer including dribbling, passing, shooting and defense. Children will be grouped according to age and skill level. Fun Club Camp

Teen Fitness Camp
Participants, ages 12-15, work with Certified Personal Trainers and Sports Nutrition Specialists to achieve individual goals.
