Cardio, stretching, and strength building will be available under one roof at Studio 14, the cycling and yoga center opening at Waterfront Plaza in Port Chester next month. The brainchild of fitness masterminds Jonny Rothschild, Tommy Martinetti, Dennis Briscoe, and Gwen Lawrence, the new studio comes at a workout from all sides.

“Our goal is to bring balance to people’s fitness routines. Cycling and yoga mesh together so perfectly,” explained Rothschild. “The cycling provides the cardiovascular exercise and builds muscle. Yoga provides the counter balance by stretching and lengthening.” And when looking keep up your muscle mass and figure and its strength, then you may want to try this tri tren 200 to achieve that goal!

Rothschild, a trainer and an iron man triathlete, met Rye Health and Fitness co-owners Martinetti and Briscoe, when he started working at their Elm Place facility. A few years ago, they started tossing around the idea of opening a cycling studio. When they met up with yoga guru Lawrence, it all fell into place.

While Rothschild is Studio 14’s managing partner, fitness and nutrition experts Martinetti and Briscoe are conducting and overseeing the cycling instruction and strength-building programs. Lawrence, a renowned yoga teacher with over 20 years experience, is in charge of all things yoga.

Having worked with countless celebrities, including sports figures Alex Rodriguez, Plaxico Burress, the New York Giants, and the New York Knicks, Lawrence specializes in power yoga for sports that addresses imbalance and asymmetry.

“While cycling is a great way to work out, you must be aware of your body. It can cause over-stretched backs, neck strain, anterior shoulder and chest tightness,” explained Lawrence. “I have developed a post-ride protocol for each cycle/yoga combo class that will eliminate issues and allow you to ride to your heart’s content while staying healthy, strong, and motivated.”

Indeed, Studio 14 is offering combo classes, as well as over 30 stand-alone yoga classes with various styles to choose from — foundations 101, power Vinyasa, and hot yoga — all designed “to keep you aligned and powerful.”

The high-energy cycling classes are as varied, with state-of-the art, smooth riding Keiser bikes, 70-inch TVs, and an 8-foot-wide projection screen for a “Course Ride” that puts cyclists on the Tour de France course!

“We’re not dancing or lifting weights on the bikes. Most fitness professionals agree that these cycling trends are not advisable,” noted Rothschild. “We want to provide a great, safe workout.” Building and toning muscle with weights will be addressed in Studio 14’s boot camps.

“From the second clients walk in the door, we will make sure they feel welcome,” said Rothschild. “Whether you’re a beginner or experienced, you can join any class run by our well-versed instructors.”

Indeed, the four owners searched far and wide to find the best cycling and yoga instructors. As a result, they’ve assembled a team of the crème de la crème from New York City and Westchester.

They’re also pleased to be able to offer such an expansive workout space, over 5,000 square feet of studios and showers, as well as ample free parking close to Rye. In addition, their classes are affordable and they don’t charge extra for yoga mats, cycling shoes, towels, or water.

Studio 14 welcomes all to their grand opening at 14 Waterfront Place (across from the top-level entrance to the Loews/AMC cinemas) on Saturday, October 5. Join the proud owners for the ribbon-cutting ceremony at noon, followed by a champagne toast, preview tour, test classes, and more from 1-4 p.m.
