Rye Town Park is sponsoring a series of seven free Tuesday night concerts at the Park’s South Pavilion this summer. Westchester-area based bands will play a wide range of popular music ideal for singing and/or dancing along.

The series begins June 23 at 7:30. Admission is free; parking is $5 ($4 for permit holders) after 4 p.m. No charge for bicyclists or walkers.

Some seating will be available, but people are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs and blankets. Picnicking is welcome, and dining or take-out is available at nearby Seaside Johnnie’s.

Here’s the lineup:

June 23 – Twist of Fate
Led by Adam and Dayna Reist, this five-member band is built around the tropical sounds of the steel drums. Their playlist comes from all over the Reggae, Ska, Jamaican, and American Pop music scene, but  they’re about as local as you can get – Reist teaches second grade at Milton School.

June 30  – Vital FunkShun
Led by drummer Tom Giorgi, this Rye Brook-based band features several lead vocalists and hot musicians that will make you get up and dance. Funk is alive and well.

July 7  – Reddy Valentino Orchestra
This swing orchestra began back in 1938 at New York’s Hotel Edison. By the late 1990s, Rye’s Scott Wenzel, lead alto sax and male singer, had taken over the group. The band features trumpets, trombones, and reeds.

July 14 – The Urban Coyotes
This Rye-based musicians has been a howling success since their formation a few years back.  They cover popular songs from the ’80s up to right now!

July 21 – Billy & The Showmen
Founded by Billy Frenz, this Greenwich-based group has earned a reputation as one of the most enduring Rhythm & Blues bands, featuring soulful vocals, along with a strong horn and a tight rhythm sections.

July 28 – The Derivatives
These Derivatives are definitely not “toxic assets.” The six-member Rye-based band has been part of the Rye Town Park Concert Series for many years. Bring the family and dance the night away.

August 11 – The Angelo Rubino Band
The six-member band features lead singer and sax player Angelo Rubino. They perform a wide range of musical styles from the 1940s to the 1990s – everything from “In The Mood” to “I Will Survive”.
