Before the holiday break, Rye strung together some convincing wins of its own, thanks to consistent production behind the arc and an unrelenting man-to-man defense.
The Garnets defeated Lakeland on Dec. 17, then proceeded to win two more games in the last weekend of the calendar year to claim a tournament title in Mahopac.
With the effort the Rye boys showed in a 67-64 overtime loss Dec. 13 at Nanuet, first-year Head Coach Tom Proudian may have to think of something additional to ask for.
