Superintendent Tricia Murray encourages eligible Rye residents to vote on budget and Board of Education trustees Tuesday in Rye Middle School gym.

Public budget hearing to follow regular Board of Education meeting at Rye Middle School, with community discussions scheduled to run through May 14.

The revised city budget, which surpasses the state tax cap for the second year in a row, includes the hiring of a new police officer and firefighter.

The $54.5 million proposal is an increase of more than $5 million over the 2025 budget.

Rye residents would now pay, on average, an additional $294 in property taxes per household with recent modifications to the city budget.

The increase would result in an additional $312 per household in property taxes based on the average estimated home value of $1.98 million.

The City Council will vote on the 2024 budget at its final meeting of the year, Dec. 20.
