A 14-year-old boy has been charged with falsely reporting a home invasion and reckless endangerment, after drawing a half dozen police agencies to a North Street home on June 27.
The boy is accused of making the false report about 2:50 p.m. Wednesday, Police Commissioner William R. Connors said. “These are far from prank calls,” Connors said Monday. “They divert valuable resources from other duties, often at considerable expense.”
About 30 police officers went to 105 North St. expecting to find three armed men after the boy said his sister was wounded and the situation “is getting worse.” The report turned out to be a hoax, an incident police call “swatting.” The homeowner, her son, and two friends were safely evacuated by police.
The case has been referred to Family Court.
