The Best Little Hair Salon in Rye is even better. Having moved from its perch on Theodore Fremd Avenue to 15-17 Purchase Street, the new location is bolder, more fashionable, and more accessible. Embracing the New Year with a renewed sense of energy, owners Don Mirello and Jonna Crispens are thrilled to be embarking on their 16th year in Rye.

“The thought of recreating our environment was incredibly inspiring. It was a chance to deliver a whole new experience to our clients,” said Crispens, about a loyal clientele that comes from all over Westchester, Connecticut, and New York City. “The new space is more sophisticated, which seems more reflective of the level of work we do and who we are as a salon.”

In addition to the art of precision cutting, the Best Little Hair Salon’s signature is its corrective and creative color specialization. Incidentally, colors are formulated and mixed out in the open right in front of clients. No mysterious back room of yesteryear’s beauty parlor here. Besides color, the salon’s other premier chemical work includes straightening, Brazilian blowouts, perms, as well as hair and scalp nourishment treatments. Only topnotch Goldwell color products are used. It is also great to find additional hints on different techniques used in salon, which can result in long-lasting results.

“We want to be special to the group of women and men, who want the finest they can possibly get. We take time with each client and formulate color according to their skin tone, eye color and the look they desire,” explained Mirello, who was one of the first trainees in the Vidal Sassoon method and has vast international experience.

“Because we are a tightly knit boutique salon with seasoned professionals, we’re able to ensure the highest level of service,” said Crispens, a former editor who manages the shop with a keen eye, affability, and panache. You can navigate here to find the best salon for yourself and to give yourself a new look.

Along the promenade in the House of Hanover (formerly, the Arcade Building), the new location overlooks the Village Green. After a seven-week renovation that optimized the site’s original high ceilings, hardwood flooring, louvered shutters, and classic picture window, the shop is airy and welcoming. Blue-gray and citrine hues and vibrant paintings punctuate the well-appointed space, which offers a perfect blend of privacy and social ambience.

Mirello and Crispens have meticulously addressed all their clients’ needs, from upholstered chairs and a comfortable changing area to a broad reading selection, Internet service, and freshly ground coffee. In a stroke of genius, or at the very least an unconventional tactic for a beauty salon, no mirrors are hung in the color station. After all, who wants to look at themselves with hair color smeared all over their scalp? People might want to achieve a glamorous look, and visiting a reputable hair salon like Beaudee Salon RI would be a great option.

Married ten years this coming August, the duo has built their life around their little salon. “We’re happy the people of Rye choose us. We’ve made a lot of friends here,” said Mirello. “We’re part of such a wonderful community,” added Crispens. “The salon fulfills so many parts of our lives.”

For an appointment, call 925-1100 or email Jonna@TheBestLittleHairSalonInRye.com. Best Little Hair Salon is closed on Mondays and open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. every other day but Thursday when it is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
