The Rye 12 Year Tournament Team began its journey with buzz cuts and Mohawks.

Winning its first game against Scarsdale sent them on their journey. Unfortunately, they lost their second game to Harrison, 3-2 in the bottom of the sixth. This put them in the losers bracket, which meant a lot of baseball to come. They went on to win six games in a row to win their way into the District 20 Championship game for the second year in a row.

They would have to beat Eastchester two nights in a row to win the title. Game 1 went back and forth, but Rye came out the winner, 12-8. Game 2, the final and deciding game, was a heartbreaker. Rye lost 7-6 in the bottom of the sixth.

At season’s end, Manager Greg Hale had lots of praise for his team’s performance throughout the tournament.

And there is always next year.
