The Forecast for October Is Perfectly Pink

SOUL RYEDERS will launch its 2nd annual TieTheTownPink breast cancer awareness campaign October 1.

SOUL RYEDERS will launch its 2nd annual TieTheTownPink breast cancer awareness campaign October 1. Their goal is to adorn hundreds of trees, homes, and businesses throughout the City of Rye with handmade pink ribbons during the month of October to show community support for its cancer-related programs.

The organization’s programs and services include The Wig Exchange, Mondays with SOUL RYEDERS, Strand Together, and SOUL STRONG — a new survivor program.

“During last year’s campaign, almost every street in the City of Rye had at least one home that displayed a TieTheTownPink ribbon,” said Lisa Dominici Faries, Co-Chair.  “We received overwhelmingly positive feedback from Rye residents about the impact this campaign has within our community, how it bolsters Rye’s spirit of unity, and is a source of pride for many residents.”

Ribbons cost $25 each and will be delivered and tied around your tree, mailbox, bench, front door, or anywhere that would look pretty in pink.

This year, the Rye High School cheerleading squad, led by Captain Caroline Howard, has been an integral part of making more than 1,000 handmade ribbons. Rye’s cheerleaders will be leading the charge in adorning downtown Purchase Street and other public areas with their handmade pink ribbons.

SOUL RYEDERS message to Rye residents is “Make this October in Rye ‘Pinktober,’” said co-chair Susan Janart. Pink ribbons can be purchased by visiting soulryeders.org.

Deliveries are restricted to addresses in the City of Rye. For those living outside of Rye, pre-order your ribbon(s) now and pick them up on September 28 and 29 at  RowAmerica Rye, a TieTheTownPink sponsor, located at 668 Milton Road from 10-1 or from 6-7.
