What becomes a centennial most? In the case of the Rye Garden Club, a history to be proud of and passionate gardeners that continue to astound us with their creative and civic endeavors.

The Club celebrated its 100th with a Garden Club of America Flower show September 24 and 25 at Apawamis Club. At the benefit party, Centennial Co-Chairs Jane Canning and Pam Kindler greeted guests and pointed them in the direction of the awaiting splendor.

In one dazzling floral display after another, gardeners from here and far gave us their take on the fads and favorites of the past century. Club members lingered over the club activity history display thoughtfully clipped and assembled by Sue Seitz and Lynn Callagy.

When Club President Sarah Barringer asked guests to raise their glasses to toast the club’s 100 years, the mortals in the room could only wonder at what magic these green thumbs would be up to next.
