The Rye Historical Society picked the perfect night and the ideal venue for its annual fundraiser. Longtime supporters Pam and Gene McGuire hosted a truly “Elegant Picnic by the Sound” June 1 at their home overlooking the Mill Pond.

Bow ties were optional, but many fashionable men were happy to follow dress directions. Lawn games were provided along with a light and lovely supper. While guests spent quality time checking out the beautifully displayed silent auction items, they also were drawn to the natural beauty of the waterfront and the rowers dotting the landscape.

No one does historic evenings better.
