Alexandria Paley
RHS Science
Ms. Paley comes to Rye from Long Island, where she taught Earth Science and Physics at Our Lady of Mercy Academy in Syosset, and Chemistry at Hempstead High School and Uniondale High School. She also taught a seventh-grade inclusion class at Uniondale and worked as a Living Environment teacher at Comeswogue High School. Ms. Paley earned her Bachelor of Science degree and Master of Arts Degree from SUNY Stony Brook University.

 

 

Lisa-Marie DiRusso
RMS Special Education
A familiar face in the District, Ms. DiRusso served as a substitute teacher for elementary and special education classes and coach of the Crew, Junior Varsity Lacrosse, Modified Track, and Field Hockey teams. She previously held roles in Pennsylvania with Valley Forge Educational Services, and the Morrisville and Council Rock school districts. Ms. DiRusso is also a special needs life skills coach. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Pennsylvania State University.

 

 

Alyssa Dulin
RHS English
Most recently, Ms. Dulin served as a Technology Teaching Assistant at Sleepy Hollow Middle and High schools, where she also completed her student teaching. In addition to teaching 9th and 12th grades, she had a variety of technology-related responsibilities. Ms. Dulin was previously a Computer Specialist Assistant, Reading Specialist Assistant, and Reading Tutor at schools in Ossining. She earned both her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Science degrees from Pace University.

 

 

 

 

 

Martha Enes
Midland Foreign Language
Ms. Enes comes to Rye after working in the Harrison Central School District for nine years as a FLES teacher throughout four elementary schools. She also served as an ESL Homework moderator, Summer Reading Program teacher, liaison and translator for adults, and multicultural fair organizer. Previously, Ms. Enes was head of the Spanish Department at Salesian High School in New Rochelle, where she taught several levels of high school Spanish. A recipient of the Sally Hahn Outstanding FLES Award, she holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Barry University and a Master’s from the College of New Rochelle.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Laura Glicksman
RHS Spanish
The District is pleased to welcome back Ms. Glickman, who returns to Rye High School, where she previously taught a variety of Spanish language courses. Her resume also includes teaching Spanish at Harlem Village Academies High School and NYC LAB School for Collaborative Studies. Earlier in her career, she served as an English/Spanish instructor at the Berlitz Language Center in New York and New Jersey, and was a Language and Colutural Assistant in Spain. Ms. Glicksman holds a Bachelor’s degree from Loyola College and a Master’s degree from New York University.

 

 

 

 

 

Melissa Hansen
RHS Math
Ms. Hansen comes to Rye with many years of experience teaching mathematics at the middle school, high school, and college levels. She served as a mathematics teacher at Mildred E. Strang Middle School in Yorktown for 17 years, during which she taught five sections and was also a teacher advisor for Odyssey of the Minds, Math Counts, and Academic Triathalon groups. Previously, she held roles in the Carmel Central School District and at Westchester Community College and Jersey City State College. Ms. Hansen earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Syracuse University and Master of Science degree from Pace University.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Sean Moughty
RHS Social Studies
Mr. Moughty brings a six-year background in teaching Social Studies courses, including Global History & Geography, United States History & Government, Participation in Government, Economics, and AP World History. Most recently, he worked at the Leadership and Public Service High School in New York City where he also advised the history club and taught during an after-school program and summer program. Mr. Moughty holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from SUNY Oneonta and Master of Science from the American College of Education.  

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Isabel Irizarry
RMS Spanish
Before coming to Rye, Ms. Irizarry taught Spanish at Horace Greeley High School in Chappaqua and John Jay Middle School in Cross River. From 2011-2012 she served as English Language and Culture Assistant in a dual language high school in Spain, supporting students in developing their skills in both the English and Spanish languages. While in Spain she also volunteered teaching a conversation class for primary school students. Ms. Irizarry holds a B.A. from Binghamton University and an M.A. from Columbia University Teachers College. She additionally has a basic knowledge of the French, Brazilian Portuguese and Euskara languages.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Cara Lipari
Osborn Library Media
Specialist
Since 2011, Ms. Lipari has served at both public and school libraries, most recently as a children’s librarian at Valley Cottage Library. She honed her student teaching experience in the Nyack Middle School Library and Valley Cottage Elementary School Library. Earlier in her career, she was a Library Marketing Coordinator for Random House, where she planned library events, maintained a library services website, and produced written resources. She holds a B.A. from the University of California and an M.S. from Long Island University, Palmer School of Library and Information Science.

 

 

 

 

 

Cameron Virrill
RMS English
Last year, Mr. Virrill served as a substitute teacher in the Rye City School District. Previously, he taught at Saddle River Day School in New Jersey for five years and Blind Brook High School for three years. For a decade he taught 10th grade English at Princeton Day School and was awarded the David C. Bogle Award grant to redesign the community service program and develop courses. In his post at Saddle River, Mr. Virrill taught English in grades 7-12. He also served as advisor for the school’s literary and arts magazine and implemented community service and recycling programs. Mr. Virrill holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Williams College and a Master of English Education degree from the University of Massachusetts.

 

 

 

 

Gabriela Murphy
RHS Spanish
Most recently, Ms. Murphy taught Spanish at Edgemont Junior/Senior High School. Before that she served as a Spanish and English as a Second Language teacher at NYC High School for Architecture, Engineering, and Construction Industries in the Bronx. She has worked as a tutor. Ms. Murphy holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Universidad Centro Occidental (Lisandro Alvarado) in Venezuela, and a Master of Arts degree from Manhattanville College.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Michael Szarkowics
RHS Social Studies
Mr. Szarkowics completed part of his student teaching experience at Rye Middle School, where he taught four sections. He most recently worked in Torrington Public Schools in Connecticut. Mr. Szarkowics earned both his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees from Manhattanville College.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Amanda Albano
RHS English
Ms. Albano joins Rye after having served as a Middle School ELA teacher at Our Lady of Fatima in Connecticut, where she implemented the ELA curriculum in grades 6-8. She previously held roles as a Graduate Assistant at Pace University and Teaching Assistant at Fordham University, managing a website for a virtual class and leading grammar sessions for students. She earned both her B. A. and M.A. degrees from Fordham University.
