A Captain of the Garnets’ soccer team as well as her FC Westchester travel team — which won the 2013 Dana Cup, contested by hundreds of teams each year in Europe — Kate is a whiz in the classroom too. She’s a member of the National Honor Society and has accumulated departmental honors in English, Spanish and Global History.
In the spring she’ll return to the playing fields as Captain of Rye’s outstanding lacrosse team. That’s when she’s not serving as President of the Rye Angels, a group she co-founded that serves New York City’s homeless.
He became a starter at defensive end and linebacker his senior year, with his efforts earning him awards on both sides of the ball. Beside his 821 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns, Shane was named Section 1 Defensive Lineman of the Year. But he didn’t stop there, earning MVP laurels as Most Outstanding Back in the Championship Game. By season’s end Shane was named one of Westchester’s Golden Dozen players by area coaches.
“I’m proud to have been part of an amazing team of exceptional coaches and athletes,” he said. “It is an honor to be recognized for this award by the Rye Lions Club.”
