Women looking to make positive changes in their lives and connect meaningfully with others will enjoy the True Edge Journey: A Women’s Circle, which under the guidance of Ellen Blaufox, LCSW-R, meets monthly in the evening at Le Pain Quotidien.

Women lead busy lives, putting others first and often relying on a checklist to make them feel better, Blaufox has observed. “Then we can’t do it. We feel guilty and stressed trying to be happier.” She hopes to break this cycle of negativity and help women learn mindfulness practices, slow down, and enjoy their journey.

For each event, Blaufox selects a theme and related activities and sometimes shows a Ted Talk video. She also provides practical tools to help women stay on the journey and goody bags. Blaufox finds that the women get connected quickly.

Participants range from women in transition to those just wanting to spend time with other women. Andi Greer Silvia says: “I bring questions and concerns and have a supportive forum in which to reflect and find positive solutions. On top of that, I’m making great long-term friends.”

A mental health professional with 23 years of clinical experience, Blaufox is currently the Clinical Director of Linden Hill in Hawthorne, the largest adolescent, psychiatric, residential treatment facility in New York State. She also maintains a private practice and is a professor at NYU Graduate School.
The Women’s Circle grew out of Blaufox’s True Edge Workshops for Women, which are held at Wainwright House and New Dawn in New Rochelle. Sessions involve co

gnitive behavioral therapy techniques and creative tools to empower women to their fullest expression of themselves.

Blaufox grew up in Rye, attended Osborn School, and graduated from Rye High School. A former dancer and actress, she has appeared in Circle in the Square and Julliard summer productions. She happily moved back to her Rye roots six years ago.

The next Women’s Circle is set for May 8, from 7 to 9 at Le Pain Quotidien. The theme is the Muse and the program will feature special guest Jen Lee, producer and performer in New York City’s storytelling scene. Blaufox will conduct a special True Edge Transformation Workshop which will include restorative yoga, a cleanse, and a goody bag, May 17, 1 to 6, at CLAY Health Club & Spa in Port Chester. On May 21, 6 to 9, she will join Elan Yoga for a Celebrate Spring event featuring complimentary bubbly, hors d’oeuvres, live music, and an art exhibition.
