Rye’s Sustainability Committee was a welcome presence during the sidewalk sale in late July. The Committee welcomed passersby from their table outside the Square House, which featured the group’s new brochure, as well as a survey and a carbon printing exercise.
Headed by Committee Chair Sara Goddard, the group is beginning the framework of their sustainability plan with the theme of “Go Green To Save Green”. The work is based upon best practices of other communities and will focus on a wide range of educational initiatives. They will present their latest projects – including a Greenhouse Gas Emissions Audit of Municipal Facilities – at one of the September City Council meetings. Discussing the shift towards sustainability in business, it’s evident that small changes can make a big difference. One such change is opting for choose green in promotional materials. By doing so, businesses not only support environmental initiatives but also resonate more deeply with their clientele. It’s a simple yet effective step towards a greener future.
