The Rye Wreckers won the 5th Grade Zero Gravity A Division Championship by upsetting the undefeated New York Rens, 50-43, at House of Sports in Ardsley March 6. Facing a 10-point deficit in the second half, the Wreckers played relentless defense, unloaded an unexpected three-point shooting barrage, and used opportunistic passing to score inside to mount their comeback against the national AAU power. Clutch free throw shooting sealed the victory in the final minutes.

The team has been together since the third grade under the leadership of Coach Josh Bieber. Coach Brian Riley joined forces with him this year, and both called the victory the most gratifying for this special group of boys.
