Incumbent Catherine Parker won a second term on the Board of Legislators, District 7 by a sizable margin on Tuesday night. According to Westchester County Board of Election’s unofficial results, Parker received 5,088 votes to Republican challenger Susan Watson’s 3,603. Watson received 41% of the vote and Parker 59%.
District 7 is compromised of Rye, Mamaroneck, Larchmont, and parts of Harrison and New Rochelle.
While this was Watson’s first run for elected office, Parker is a seasoned campaigner, having served on the Rye City Council for six years before she ran for the BOL. In light of that, Watson’s numbers were more than respectable.
The two Rye residents had contrasting styles and clashed on several issues, notably the best way to balance the County budget.
