Given a kit consisting of a block of pine, plastic wheels, and metal axles, Scouts (with help from their parents) get to work carving, painting, detailing, and tuning their cars for competition.
In the winner’s circle this year for Fastest Car was Alex Ogg. Owen Lacombe won in the Most Creative category; Jack Ginsberg in the Funniest; and Noah Birdsall for Best Paint Job.
Additionally, Eric Lonnegren, Kia Chait, Charlie Goffinet, Malcolm McQueeney, and Jacques Goffinet all won fastest car in their ranks.
Next year will be the 50th anniversary of the Pinewood Derby. If you would like information on becoming a Scout, visit https://beascout.scouting.org/.
