And Miles to Go Before They Sleep

Meals on Wheels of Port Chester, Rye and Rye Brook celebrated its 40th anniversary of volunteer service at an annual meeting October 16 at Christ’s Church.

Meals on Wheels of Port Chester, Rye and Rye Brook celebrated its 40th anniversary of volunteer service at an annual meeting October 16 at Christ’s Church. Each year, Meals on Wheels drivers deliver more than 10,000 weekday meals to homebound neighbors in the three communities. The midday meals are prepared by the Port Chester Nursing and Rehabilitation Centre and brought to recipients along a pre-mapped route.

Drivers and donations are always welcome. “We’re all volunteers and we run the program on a modest budget derived entirely from contributions,” said Chair Richard Hansen. To volunteer or make a donation, call 925-0778.
