Audrey Ruben
Longtime Rye resident Audrey H. Ruben passed away on July 14, 2018 in Irvine, California, after a brief illness. She was 91.
Born on November 28, 1926 in Union City, N.J., she was valedictorian of her high school class and a New Jersey State debating champion. She received a full scholarship to NYU where she earned her B.A. She earned a master’s degree from Columbia Teachers College, and a J.D. from St. John’s University Law School.
She practiced law in Port Chester with Dominic Pierro.
She and her husband Robert, a prominent corporate attorney for the New York City law firm of Shea & Gould, were active in the Rye community. Mrs. Ruben was president of the League of Women Voters of Rye, Rye Brook & Port Chester and a member of Ceres Garden Club. She enjoyed sailing with her husband, music, and being a part of women’s groups.
In 1990, the Rubens moved to Orange County, California, to be near their children, Pamela and her husband Robert Golum and James Ruben, M.D. They survive her, as do her five grandchildren.
