Boys Swim Team Keeps Lapping Opponents

The Rye-Blind Brook-Rye Neck Co-Op boys varsity swim team continued to tear through its regular season earlier this month with wins over Woodlands and Nyack high schools.

Rye defeated Woodlands on Jan. 11 by a score of 96-68. Senior Bryan Laverty won the 200-meter freestyle and 100-meter butterfly, freshman Kieran Moran won the 200-meter individual medley, and senior Will Soviero the 500 freestyle. In diving, freshman Finn Hansen and freshman Niko Field placed first and second, respectively, in one-meter diving.

The next day, Rye beat Nyack 93-77. This time, Laverty won the 200-meter individual medley and 100-meter breaststroke, Moran won the 200 freestyle, and senior Tripp Redd took the 50-meter freestyle. Hansen repeated his victory in the one-meter diving.

The team’s swimmers and divers are competing this weekend in the Conference Championships and on Feb. 8-13 in the Section 1 Championships.
