While the City, with the help of outside legal counsel, continues its investigation of fiscal impropriety at Rye Golf Club, longtime manager Scott Yandrasevich, who had been on paid administrative leave since October, resigned from the position last week through a letter from his attorney. In the same letter, he agreed to vacate his residence on the golf club grounds no later than February 28.
On January 11, a week before Yandrasevich submitted his letter of resignation, City Manager Scott Pickup signed a consulting agreement engaging Jim Lopolito “as an independent consultant to provide services to the club, in the form of management on an interim basis.”
Under the agreement, Lopolito will be paid a weekly salary of $1,925 for the next 33 weeks, and is guaranteed a total compensation of $63,525.
Lopolito comes to Rye Golf after serving as the interim manager of Larchmont Shore Club last year, general manager of The Capitol Theater in Port Chester for a decade, and general manager of the faculty club at Weill Cornell Medical College for 15 years.
Mayor Doug French said, in a public statement, “We took affirmative steps to ensure that club operations will continue without interruption, and the City looks forward to a successful 2013 season.”
The Mayor assured the community that the City, “will share the results of the investigation, which date as far back as 2007 with the public and the District Attorney’s Office as soon as possible. In addition, we will be establishing an independent body and process to examine past management oversight of the Golf Club.”
