The new group is a result of discussion and public comment at the October 22 City Council meeting regarding a rock chipping project on Highland Road, near Onondaga Street in Indian Village. Residents of Indian Village were represented at the meeting by Durkee, who voiced major concerns about the length of the project, decibel levels, and the extent of the excavation.
The project is in compliance with the City’s current rock chipping and noise ordinances. Developer David Turiano also spoke at the meeting and reviewed extra efforts he has made to curtail some of the noise and inconvenience caused by the project.
The group will study whether new or more restrictive limitations should be placed on hours, duration, decibel levels, on-site crushing, the amount of rock that may be removed.
The group has been asked to complete its work and prepare options for the City Council’s consideration by December 31.
