Have a story to tell? Interested in a new and creative way of sharing it? A group from Rye recently took part in an experimental workshop in Digital Storytelling at the RyeTV Studio. The program was led by Jane Johnson, former English teacher and department chairperson at Rye High School, and facilitated by Nicole Levitsky, RyeTV Access Coordinator.
Digital storytelling involves two modes of communication — auditory and visual. Each participant wrote a short narrative, based on a personal experience, and then chose photos to enhance the story. Group members provided feedback for each other during the process and then recorded their stories and worked on adding their images at the studio. Story topics ranged from childhood memories to a favorite family car.
RyeTV plans to run another class in the near future in the hope that residents and community organizations might like to use this vehicle to share stories, histories and significant experiences with the Rye audience. For more information, call 967-7242.
