Ex-Y Employee Charged with Grand Larceny
Has Her First Day in Rye City Court
Lee Ann Borg, of Croton-on-Hudson, who was arraigned and charged on February 26 in County Court with Grand Larceny in the second degree, made her first appearance in Rye City Court before Judge Joseph Latwin on March 5. A former employee of the Rye YMCA, Borg is accused of stealing more than $190,000 by making unauthorized personal purchases with a Rye Y corporate credit card.
At the hearing, Assistant District Attorney James Tobin asked Latwin to deny the request from Borg’s attorney to allow him to keep her passport in escrow. Latwin allowed the request and set the next court date for June 25.
In a statement to its members on February 27, the Rye YMCA explained, “Early last year we discovered that the Rye Y had been the victim of fraud related to the misuse of a YMCA-issued corporate credit card, and we reported the matter to the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office.” They continued, “At the request of the DA’s office we will not be commenting further, because of the ongoing criminal investigation.”
