Jonah Gorevic, 9, placed second in the 1500 — missing first place by 5/100 of a second — with a time of 5:04.70. He and the first-place winner beat the previous record for that age/distance. Jonah placed third in the 800 for the Bantam age group (9 and 10) with a time of 2:38.55.

Natalie Weiner, 11, placed third in the 800 with a time of 2:34.42. In the 1500, she came in fourth, with a time of 5:17.13.

Both will compete in the USATF Youth Challenge Series at Icahn Stadium the weekend of April 12. And neither would miss the Rye Derby later this month.

Natalie is a sixth grader at Rye Middle School and Jonah is in fourth grader at F.E. Bellows in Rye Neck.
