John C. Chiappetta Jr.

John Chiappetta Jr. passed away at the age of 34 on July 24, 2022. He was a caring and loving son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend to many, who was taken away too soon.

Born in Stamford, Conn. on February 4, 1988, he was first grandchild welcomed into the family.

He and his father, John Chiappetta Sr., who died earlier this year, shared a proclivity and love for many things, personally and professionally. Both were skilled craftsmen who enjoyed working with their hands. John Jr. was an electrician who was ready to help anyone at a moment’s notice. He also loved sports and the outdoors.

Most importantly, he had a deep love for family. “When Johnny gave you a hug or shared his beautiful, big smile you knew you were someone special,” said his family. “John had an enormous heart and a listening ear.”

Like his father, John Jr. would passionately defend and support his family through thick and thin, always putting others before himself. As the oldest grandchild, he also assumed the role of mentor. He not only watched over his cousins but went out of his way to give each one quality time and make them aware of how special and loved they were.

He is survived by his mother, Nannette Chiappetta of North Salem, N.Y., his brother, Nicholas A. Chiappetta of Stamford; his grandmother, Nancy Morton of Spring Hill, Fla.; his grandparents, Frank and Raffaela Chiappetta of Rye; his aunts and uncles, Frank Chiappetta of Rye, Mario (Lisa) of Mamaroneck, Marco (Adrienne) of Norwalk, Conn., Maria O’Brien (Vincent) of Mount Pleasant, N.Y., Serina Pecora (Joseph) of Rye, and Patricia West (David) of Wilton, N.Y.; and many cousins.

In addition to his father, he was predeceased by his uncles, Danny Chiappetta of Rye and Robert Morton of Greenwich, R.I., and his grandfather, Robert Morton.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated July 30 at Church of the Resurrection. Burial followed at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Rye Brook.

Memorial donations may be made to Shatterproof, 101 Merritt 7, Norwalk, CT 06851. (www.shatterproof.org)
