Kate Weiss Ties for First in FAA Tournament

Kate Weiss, senior captain of the Rye Country Day Girls’ Golf team, tied for first place in the FAA tournament held May 18.

Kate Weiss, senior captain of the Rye Country Day Girls’ Golf team, tied for first place in the FAA tournament held May 18. She shot a 36 in the par-35 event. A four-year veteran of the team, Weiss received all FAA Honors at last year’s tournament as well.

She started playing golf in eighth grade and for the past three years been a regular on the tournament tour, playing the local Met PGA, IJGT, and AGJA matches. Weiss, who has a 7 handicap, will be playing golf at Amherst next year.

Weiss wasn’t the only player who came out swinging at the FAA. Holy Child golfers placed in the All League category for the first time in five seasons. Sophomore Claire Monahan shot a 44, earning her third place, and Maggie Curtis came in fourth with a 45. Both players received All League Honorable Mention.
