With four months to go until the New York Democratic Primary, George Latimer is going town to town seeking local Democratic endorsements. Last month, Latimer, who is in his second term as Westchester County Executive, announced his decision to challenge Rep. Jamaal Bowman, who is running for his second term representing the 16th Congressional District.
In the last few weeks, Latimer has won the support of Rye City, Pelham, and Scarsdale. He received the endorsement of Port Chester Mayor Luis Marino at the Rye Town Democratic Committee meeting. State Senator Shelley Mayer, who endorsed Latimer last week, said: “I need a partner I can count on to deliver progressive results for my constituents.”
Latimer said, “My chances in Eastchester, White Plains, and New Rochelle are good, which shows grassroot support my opponent just doesn’t have.”
On the fundraising front, in less than a month, over $1 million was raised for Latimer’s campaign.
“It is still a long road,” said Latimer.
