One hundred years ago, Manursing Island Club opened its doors to its first members. Celebrating this historic event with a bang, a group of 400 members and friends gathered at the club April 28. To accommodate the crowd, a large tent extended the scene out over the beach.

Resident Executive Chef John Krall, whose cuisine continues to amaze after close to a 20-year tenure, had guests going from one buffet station to another, tasting and raising a glass to him and his crew.
Remembrances of Manursing’s past were placed throughout the club. Knowles did an extraordinary job compiling those historical moments.
Hats off to Cynthia Hudson, her Entertainment Committee, and Manursing staff for transforming the club into a starry, vibrant scene — with cool and comfortable lounge seating and well-placed bars — in which longstanding and newer members lingered and celebrated into the early hours.
To see more of Manursing’s 100-year history, visit the “Deja Views” exhibit, curated by Sue Seitz, which opens at the Square House May 25. Many of the images shown at the centennial party will be on display, along with interesting objects from the club’s past.
