Myra Patricia Kirby of Rye, N.Y. died peacefully on September 23, 2023, after a courageous 16-month battle with colon cancer.
Born in Quito, Ecuador, on July 23, 1960, she came to the United States with her family at the age of 4. She earned an undergraduate degree education at Brooklyn College and had a fulfilling career in finance working at Dean Witter, Morgan Stanley, and at hedge funds.
She met her future husband, Tim Kirby, in the fall of 2001. They were married in November of 2002, and had a cherished daughter, Caroline, in February 2005.
Myra was welcomed with open arms by the large, extended Kirby clan — Carin, George, Linda, and Bob — highlighting the beauty of family, both born and chosen.
A lifelong Catholic, she was a 20-year parishioner of Resurrection Church and enjoyed spending time in Monsignor Boyle’s Garden praying with her family and dogs. She had a deep love for animals and cherished her beloved pets, Nino, Rocky, Wendy, Maggie, Coco, and Sammi.
“Myra’s vibrant spirit and unwavering love touched everyone who knew her,” said her family.
Mrs. Kirby is survived by her husband Tim and daughter Caroline; as well her siblings, Janet DeRosa, Edward Rivadeneira (Anna), Jaqueline Mascolo (Richard), and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Marcy and Edward Rivadeneira.
The family will receive friends at Graham Funeral Home in Rye, on Friday, September 29, from 4 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Church of the Resurrection September 30 at 10 a.m.
