Rye boys closed out their record-setting track season Sunday by breaking another school record at the Eastern States Championship at Iona Prep.
Joey Viger, Aaron Matthias, Taylor Love, and Tom Mayo-Smith ran 3:24.9 in the 1600-meter relay for first place, and a school record. The previous record as 3:27.4 set in 2010.
Mayo-Smith also placed fifth in the 400-meter run with a time of 50.1.
Pat Wall placed third in the 400-meter hurdles in 57.6.
The team nearly broke another school record that has lasted since 1956 in the 800-meter relay, running it in 1:32.9. Placing sixth in that event were Colby Ellis, Aaron Matthias, John Tuttle, and Thornton Ellis.
Senior Scott Hanley placed fifth in the shot put, tossing it 47-feet 9-inches.
