Yes, Andrew Livingston has thrown for more than a thousand yards on the young season, completing 57 of 89 passes, nine of them going for touchdowns. And, yes, the Garnets as a team have averaged a whopping 35 points a game.
On the other hand, Rye’s defense has been generous to a fault, yielding more than 22 points a game to teams that aren’t as strong as 4-0 Nyack, winners last weekend by 49-12 over Hendrick Hudson. In fact, the 13 points Harrison was held to four weeks ago was the Garnets’ best performance all year.
In the three weeks since the Harrison game, the Garnets have defeated Sleepy Hollow 38-21, Walter Panas in an offensive fireworks display 56-47, and Byram Hills this past Sunday, 28-21.
Can the Garnet and Black keep scoring more points on one end than they let up at the other? The big test comes tonight.
